Today if you visit Components Company Inc.’s Brookfield facility, you will see that we now have an electric car charging station in our parking lot. As concern grows about carbon emissions caused by gasoline-fueled cars, we decided it was important to offer this convenience to our visitors and employees with plug-in electric cars.

Plug-in electric vehicles, or PEVs, come in three different types:

1. Extended range
2. Plug-in hybrid electric
3. Battery electric

Studies have shown that people who drive electric vehicles can avoid the release of more than 2.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Also, each year more and more people are choosing to drive sustainably by using electric vehicles.

Other Advantages of Electric Vehicles

People drive electric cars for many reasons and one of them is certainly reducing the overall carbon footprint. But there are other advantages too.

Electric car owners usually experience lower maintenance and operating costs and their vehicles produce little to no local air pollution.

There are also several advantages to businesses that decide to install electric car charging stations.

First, we are helping to improve air quality in our environment. Scientific evidence shows that using electric vehicles versus traditional petroleum-fueled vehicles greatly reduces carbon emissions that are released into the air.

Installing electric car charging stations can also attract different types of employees and customers by making it convenient for them to charge their vehicles at your business.

And, of course, there are also tax incentives and advantages for both owners of electric vehicles as well as businesses that install charging stations. In 2017, it was reported that owners of electric vehicles received a tax credit of between $2,500 and $7,500 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It was also reported in 2017 that businesses that installed electric car charging stations between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016, could qualify for a tax credit for 30% of the cost of installation (up to $30,000 of the total cost).
